Environmental Therapy

Wilder Things are passionate about the environment and the impact that it has on people’s lives. We have developed our unique form of environmental therapy over 27 years of personal experience of working with nature and with children and adults with special needs.

Every activity and project described on our website is available to individuals or groups of any ability and we can tailor our projects to meet your specific needs.

Dedication and Experience

Dedication and Experience

We are dedicated to find sites and activities that are accessible and enjoyable for people who have had a brain injury, wheelchair users, those with sensory impairment, autism and ADHD and we can work with groups or one to one.

We use our unique “outdoorsy” skills and experience to provide physical therapy, sensory stimulation, relaxation, communication and most importantly fun!

One to One or Group Therapy

One to One or Group Therapy

We work with several clients who have sustained a brain injury on a one to one basis or additionally supported by a support worker in a woodland site. We have also combined clients to work in small teams. Tasks may include Rhododendron control, hazel coppicing, Himalayan Balsam bashing, path restoration and stile building. We currently work in woodlands in Cheshire and Lancashire.

We can work with a client’s existing health professionals and tailor our work to fit Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy goals. We have a range of adapted tools and have also custom designed and built equipment to allow our clients to undertake tasks that would otherwise be challenging or impossible.

Our emphasis is not on completing the tasks, but on everyone having a positive experience, from celebrating each small achievement to sharing a brew around a fire.

Our attitude is anything is possible! We even have a team dog who provides entertainment and companionship and boosts moral.
